International Certification Examination
In 2014 the International FDM leaders established criteria for International Certification, also referred to as IC. A list of questions to be used was made and shared with the three organizations. The requirements are international requirements but the courses and exams must all be within one international organization (AFDMA, EFDMA or FAA). Practitioners are welcome to take courses outside of their organization but they will not count toward eligibility to take the IC exam. The overseeing organization is FDM GO.
Requirements to sit for the exam given by AFDMA:
- Complete at least one each of all 3 modules presented by AFDMA approved instructors.
- Practice for at least one year following the completion of the third module.
- Be a member in good standing of AFDMA.
- Apply to take the exam and pay the current fee of $495.
The next opportunity to sit for the International Certification Examination will be in March 18, 2026 at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The examination will begin at 9:00 AM and there will be a break for lunch, which will be on your own. We anticipate the examination wrapping up around 4:00 PM. The location in the Broadmoor Hotel for the examination will be provided as we get closer to the date.
If you are ready to sit for the exam, please complete this application. Verification of completion of all three modules and AFDMA membership will be made once registration is received. There is a fee to sit for this exam and an invoice will be emailed to you once it has been determined you are eligible to sit for the exam. If there are any discrepancies, we will contact you.

Instructor Pathway
