Module 2 provides an introduction to the Fascial Distortion Model, including the theory and concepts that are basic to diagnosis and treatment within the FDM. Each of the distortions are defined and explained along with the likely outcomes with and without treatment. Extensive hands-on time is an integral part of this course. Diagnosis and treatment of spine, sacrum and pelvis injuries are highlighted in this course with plenty of supervised practicum time so that physicians will be able to return to their offices with skills they can immediately utilize.
Module 2 is also an Introduction to the Fascial Distortion Model, followed by extensive diagnosis and treatment of the neck, back and hips according to the FDM. Practicum time is an integral part of this course which provides effective diagnosis and treatment tools for practitioners to treat low back pain and sciatica as well as other injuries of the back, neck and hips.

FDM Global Organization (FDMGO)
AFDMA is proud to be a member of the FDM Global Organization (FDMGO). The FDMGO is an international collective of the three international FDM associations that has been formed to help move the FDM forward in an organized and collaborative manner. Members of the FDMGO have reached an agreement that will help coordinate curriculum, set parameters for the spread of FDM, and create standards for those people who are interested in reaching the status of being Internationally Certified in the practice of FDM.
As apart of the AFDMA, members agree to support the core beliefs of the FDGO that no treatment videos will be displayed open source on the internet. Before and after treatment demonstrations are okay, but no complete treatments will be made available online in an open source format.
The FDM Module 2 Seminar held at DMU in Des Moines, Iowa was a great success. Faculty, area physicians and MS3 and above attended the seminar taught by Todd Capistrant, DO and assistant Marjorie Kasten, PT. After a review of the Fascial Distortion Model and some great information about fascia, the remainder of the course dealt with diagnosing and treating injuries and conditions of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, including the pelvis, sacrum and hips. Besides lectures and videos, live patients with back pain were treated to demonstrate the dramatic results that FDM diagnosis and treatment can produce. Kasten also described her work with inversion treatments and inversion tables were available for the participants to use during hands-on practicum. Even patients with many years of pain made significant progress with only one FDM treatment, and although not pain-free, they were hopeful that more FDM treatments would enable them to function more normally. Everyone left with new skills to use in their clinic or rotations.
